This was my first trip to Gettysburg. The bus tour was a great way to get an overview if the area and to learn about the battle of Gettysburg. Throughout my years in school we had learned bits and pieces about the Civil War but the one thing you donā€™t get an appreciation for in the classroom is the size of the area for this particular battle, and what it must have been like with more than 130k solders fighting in the region. The battle took place in an area that was over 17 square miles in size. When you take into account the amount of ammunition and equipment they were carrying and mostly on foot it seems pretty daunting. Add in the terrains and weather they were up against and the battle is even more incredible. We also had a chance to go through the visitors center and watch the ā€œbirth of Freedom movie. Both were very informative and well worth while. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a good job describing aspects of the battle and trying to put it into prospective. I hope to have the opportunity to return and view additional sites in the area.

We took the two hour bus tour for $35. You get the tickets at the visitor centre on site. There was a driver and a guide who worked well together. The guide was fantastic. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the battle and the players. About three quarters of the way through the tour the day 2 of the battle became crystal to me.Great story telling.highly recommend

This was a good tour. I would do it again. I would have paid a little more if it made a few more stops. Overall, worth the money.
