We decided to take the bus tour of the battlefield and we're glad we did. At $35 each, it was fairly expensive, but we live for away and this would probably be the only time we were here. Every seat was sold so it was a bit crowded, but everyone was considerate of each other so it wasn't bad. The day was hot so the cool A/C was very appreciated. Our guide was very knowledgeable, so knowledgeable that he spoke very fast and threw out so many facts it was hard to remember them all, but very interesting. We hit all the major battle sites and at some we disembarked and walked with our guide while he told about what happened at that spot. Standing on those very fields where so many man suffered and died was a solemn experience. I'm glad we had a guide as he told us the meaning behind plaques and markers and gave details on the statues and individual battles. The tour felt a bit rushed so we wished it lasted about 30 minutes longer. The price was worth it to us.

We have been to Gettysburg a few times in the past, but never did a bus tour previously. We decided to try the Double-Decker Bus tour this trip, as we had previously done the self-guided auto tour on a previous visit (highly recommended for the first-time visitor.). We rode on the top deck, which is open-air, and had a great time. Plug-in ear buds are provided to listen to the narration as the bus takes a chronological tour of the battlefield sites and describes the events that occurred at each site. A very informative and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours without walking or driving, and well worth the price. TIP: If you ride on top and wear a hat, make sure it is securely on your head!

My 10 year old son and I went on this tour today at 12:30 pm and really enjoyed it. The double decker bus is the way to go because there is so much to see and the views are incredible. We learned so much about Gettysburg and saw many sites. What an education. It was nice to stop as well half way through to get a drink and use the restroom. We also stopped at Devils Den and my son was able to climb around on the rocks. We are only here 1 day so this tour was definitely beneficial for us.
