On the Local Tour you will experience driving your very own snowmobile in the beautiful Goldstream Valley and learn what it’s like to live as an Alaskan: dry cabins, winter travel, northern sports, and wildlife. The Goldstream Valley is home to moose, lynx, fox, snowshoe hare, ptarmigan, and grouse, to name a few! Wildlife sightings are common on this tour, especially during the morning and evening tours! The valley is also home to many local dog mushers, snowshoers, cross country skiers, fat bikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts alike.

The Local Tour is a 2-hour guided snowmobile tour through the beautiful Goldstream Valley. This tour is our most popular tour choice. On the Local Tour you will navigate your own snowmobile through spruce forests, cruise over frozen lakes, ponds, creeks, and tundra, and feel the thrill of shredding some deep powder!

Cancellation Policy

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

What a fun experience. Chris was an excellent guide. He had us geared up quickly and did a great job getting our inexperienced group up to speed. We had a blast.

Our guide Spencer was so friendly and personable. He let us have fun and open up the machines when we hit open spaces. He never rushed us at stops or drag his feet at stops either to kill time. We had a blast and he took all the pictures we wanted. If you’ve never ridden a snow machine before be warned they don’t turn on a dime so pay attention to the trail. The machine does a great job of following the trail and basically drives itself. We would do this again with this company if we come back to Fairbanks!

Never been on a snow machine before, so I was worried. Jeremy explained how to operate the machines and I was still sure I was going to hit a tree. Got stuck within 5 minutes, but Jeremy was so patient. About halfway through, I realized I was having a good time. The combination of slowly winding trails and time at the open field gave me the confidence to have a great time on the twisty, tight trails during the last half. Every person on our tour managed to get stuck at some point and Jeremy just matter of factly helped them out. Bonus, a couple of skiers asked for our help moving a mamma moose and her calves. Got mock charged by the momma moose. Scary, but a great story. As a complete novice, I highly recommend Snow Sleighers.
