Our tour guide Amy Tankersley was fantastic! She was deeply knowledgeable of the history, facts, and people of Charleston and the surrounding areas, making the tour fun and personable, whether you were just interested in a top level summary or detailed information on the beautiful homes and gardens going back to the city's founding over 350 years ago. We got to know why the Charleston settlement was successful while others had difficulty and eventually failed, how the areas of the original settlement expanded over the years and how Charleston's natural geography helped protect it during times of conflict from foreign countries and even Pirates, while making it a hub of industry throughout the years! Finally, to help us better understand Charleston's founding, Amy brought 3-dimensional layouts of the original city as well as diagrams of the surrounding area throughout the years. On a personal note, Amy kept us in the shade practically during the entire tour and my wife appreciated that we started out near a clean restroom. All in all we had a great time learning about and getting to know Charleston! We had a wonderful time! Highly recommended.
