I took my out of state cousin on the 9am Cape Romano / Shelling tour 06-14-2018 as part of our Keys/Everglades trip and we both enjoyed it very much. I chose it because I had wanted to see the Cape Romano Dome House ruins for years and it would give her a chance to go shelling. Plus, the price was affordable ($55 per person) and the maximum number of people were 6, so this would be a nice small scale boat trip.
Andrew was our Captain and did a great job narrating and explaining the area, wildlife, and some history. We saw and circled the domes, giving everyone an opportunity to take photos and get a good look. There was also a binder with pictures of them back when they were on dry land and a beautiful strange home. We also went shelling, and he pointed out the best area for those who wanted shells to find them. If you go, hopefully, as we did you'll get to see dolphins as an added bonus. We saw them both going and coming.
The tour lasted 2 hours as expected, left Caxambas Marina/park on time, and gave every evidence of being from a well run and professional outfit. I booked online with no problems. Location for meeting was easy to find, and may vary depending on the season or activity booked. For us it was Caxambas on Marco Island, which was only about a 45 minute drive from Everglades City where we were staying. After the boat trip, it was easy to get out of Marco and over to Goodland for lunch and on with our afternoon wilderness activities.
