What To Expect
1
The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte
First, we'll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
2
Sentinel Mesa
Located northwest of The Mittens, it's a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

We were a bit disappointed with this tour. We are two experienced riders, but there were two further people in our group who were the first time on a horse. So we did. not get the occasion to also ride in trot or gallop. This simply did. not fit together. The description of the tour in the internet promised something different by saying that we get the horses and then would be galloping in direction of the Buttes. Furthermore, there were several stops on the tour with long explanations. Even though these were interesting, we were expecting a 2 hour ride, but with all the long stops and talking, this was not what we have expected.

Everyone was very nice and professional. The knowledge our guide, Robert had was stellar. It was just so fantastic! I definitely recommend them to everyone!

I emailed Tori numerous times and have emails confirming my 2 hour ride for a certain date and time and price. It was done a couple of weeks in advance. When I got there a half hour ahead of time (as requested) no one was there. So at ten minutes before the ride time I called Tori and she said the guide was out on a ride and would be there soon. They arrived 20 minutes after my ride was supposed to begin. No real problem at that point but then the guide told me he had no appointment for me. I showed him the numerous emails from Tori and the invoice I had received from her. He said there was no appointment in the book so too frickin' bad! I made him call her to confirm and she then told me it would be $300 for a 2 hour ride when I had agreed to pay her $150 and even had her invoice stating that. I told him that I wouldn't pay that and he said fine- he wanted to go home anyway. So my ride in Monument Valley was a bust. Instead, the next day I rode in Canyon De Chelley with Justin's Horses and everything was just terrific. Bottom Line: Don't trust anything this groups says. Even if you have it in print and in emails. I'm really glad to warn others of her unethical behavior. Avoid this group!
