Iām reasonably experienced as a dinghy sailor and crewing on a yacht. In no way could this be deemed a safe operation. I counted 22 passengers, all of who had to sit outside the cockpit around the stern, sides and foredeck of the boat. There was no thorough safety briefing, no life jackets issued and no safety lines. We then sailed around the bay in a stiff breeze with the boat well heeled over with just a jib and fore-sail. Unfortunately I had no option but to sit on the foredeck floor with my daughter due to lack of space. This meant we got very wet from the spray and with the boat pitching in the waves I had to basically wedge my daughter against the mast to keep her safe. I was left feeling I had put my familyās life in danger. The Captain Michael was clearly competent, but from the way he had to instruct the first mate Iām pretty sure he wasnāt. It was not a relaxing experience, my family were terrified, you needed both hands to hold on so there was no way of taking photos or video, and it certainly wasnāt possible to drink or eat anything. Although he was friendly there was no commentary on the sights of the bay. Unless itās a full-on sailing experience youāre after, I recommend taking a ferry or larger, safer vessel. I really donāt enjoy leaving bad reviews, and seldom do, but I feel people need to approach this experience with their eyes open to the risks.
