2 Hour Whale Watching Kayak Tour for Two

Overview
The 2 Hour Whale Watch Kayaking Tour offers the chance to safely view migrating gray whales via kayak in their natural habitat. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate the coastal waters with the potential to see different types of marine life that inhabit one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in all of California. Our guides are there to make sure you have the most intimate and amazing experience. Part of that is a strict adherence to the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Ocean Etiquette Guidelines established by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In accordance with the laws and guidelines, we remain at least 100 yards away from whales and 50 yards away from dolphins. We avoid following behind or directly approaching in front of these animals. By following these guidelines, we ensure that we are safe, do not disturb these amazing creatures of the sea and have a wondrous experience.

My boyfriend and I went on the whale watching kayak tour and really enjoyed it. It’s a great way to do something active, get some sun, see playful animals, and learn a few new things! Though we didn’t see any whales or up close sea lions, we did see some dolphins and a huge area of birds in the water that flew by us at one point. It was quite a site and neat experience! From check in to the end of the tour, the staff were great. They worked well to get us checked in and moving through to get our gear (helmets, life jackets, and we opted for wetsuits since it was a chilly day). They were efficient but relaxed and friendly. Our guides Danielle and John did a fantastic job with our group. Both were friendly and took turns telling us about the animals we may be seeing, the ecosystem of the water beneath us and how it changed from spot to spot and what the plants were like.. informative but still fun and not dull at all. I loved learning about the area and the animals through the tour. They also did a great job of breaking up the kayaking with brief stops to share info and give people time to rest, so it wasn’t like you had to power through for two hours of nonstop kayaking. I’m in pretty good shape but the breaks were nice and gave time to enjoy the scenery more. Thanks for an awesome tour, Danielle and John!

This was my first time to San Diego, and what a wonderful way to experience the water! The weather was great on the day of my tour, and the water was very calm. The guides were very friendly and very knowledgable about the animals and ecosystem. Didn't see any whales, and I get the sense that a whale siting is less probable. This is the ocean, not Sea World, so expect to mostly look at the birds and the water with a few quick glimpses of sea lions and dolphins. BUT towards the end of our trip a whole pod of dolphins were swimming around very close to our group, and hung out for quite a while before moving on. Even our guides were excited, saying such an encounter is very rare. Check in was not as organized and clear as I would have liked, and I wish the wet-suit and locker rentals were included in the price of the trip. But all in all an enjoyable few hours, and definitely worth doing once.

We enjoyed this easy activity. It was fun entering through low waves. The guide, Greg, was very knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff was helpful and kind. We were disappointed that we couldn't actually enter the cave but the Lifeguard had just announced that it was not safe at low tide. Perhaps next time we will schedule for a high tide time.
