Overview
Explore Charleston's most iconic creek by sea kayak to see native wildlife and learn about the local history. As we paddle past oyster-lined marshes and down by the shrimp boats, we'll see animals like bottlenose dolphins, pelicans, egrets and more. In the summer months, manatees and sea turtles call this creek home, too! Coastal Expeditions guides lead you on this adventure, while making sure that the experience is safe and fun for all ages.

Shem Creek Park
Historic Shem Creek is one of the most iconic spots in Charleston and is known for its shrimp boats, seafood restaurants and wildlife. Bottlenose dolphins frequent this creek and will often breach just feet away from your kayak. In the summers, manatees call Shem Creek home and loggerhead turtles will occasionally pop above the surface. As you pass by the shrimp boats and oyster-lined marshes, you see Charleston Harbor and the Holy City Skyline. The Netflix show Outer Banks films on Shem Creek and your guide can show you familiar places where Pogues hang out!

Excellent tour! Highly recommend it. Our guide,Chance, was extremely knowledgeable and super personal. The river is spectacular. I was a first time kayaker and slightly nervous. I had a fabulous time and would definitely go again. Thanks Chance!

I give Coastal Expeditions the highest rating possible! The kayak tour I took with my family exceeded our expectations; it was an experience none of us will ever forget. Chance was our guide and we cannot thank him enough for keeping us safe while also sharing his seemingly endless knowledge about all the sites we explored.

My family of 7 loved our kayak ecotour of the low country. Tate made all of us feel confidant on the water (including a 5 and 8 year old) while providing helpful sightings and explanations of the flora and fauna. We got to see night herons, a wood stork, and even made friends with a couple alligators while Tate was taking our picture. It was a perfect active family outing. Thanks!
