This was me and my wives first trip to MV as part of her baby moon. We were there for 3 nights and 4 days. The guide was a local and shared highlights along with some hidden gems of the island. He gave us a lot of great tips that we latter used to adjust our itinerary. My recommendation would be to take a tour first, then adjust your plans accordingly. It’s a big island and because of our tour guide, we didn’t feel we missed out!! There is a lot more to offer than what is advertised online.

It was a downpour, but the prepaid trip was not canceled, so onto the bus and good thing on a bus with the wicked downpour and off we went to Eadgartown first stop but off we went still raining I scared to lose my footing asked if I could stay on the bus but no was the answer. l/2 hour I found someone with a kind arm and we went to the tourism office nearby to wait it out. One important piece of info...we were told that in July and August is not a good time to visit as there are so many tourists that there are lines everywhere just to eat or get into a site. We then re-boarded the bus after 40 minutes and took off on a scenic view of the island and the driver regaled us with historical info again a stop in the rain to see Gay Head lighthouse. This time I was allowed to stay on bus which at the end dropped us off at the starting point just outside the ferries.as in a short while we would be taking the ferries back to Falmouth...then drive back to Boston. I do not recommend such a trip if you are not sure footed, like me, the rain caused a disappointing day trip, but could not be cancelled and it was costly.
