3 Hour Private Tour with a Local Native ( Price up to 5)

Overview
Tour with a born and raised local Alaskan Native. Learn about my culture and some history of Ketchikan. Hear about our medicinal and edible plants, how we gather and process the plants. I come from a family background of artists; my grandfather James Edenshaw helped carve Totem Bight, my brother James Edenshaw is a Tlingit Master Carver, my Uncle George Lewis Jr. was a Tlingit Code talker, and my mother did bead work. If you're interested in my culture, I bring customers to one of four locations to see Totem Poles. These beautiful monumental carvings may symbolize or commemorate ancestors, cultural beliefs, clan lineage or events. Wildlife plays a role in many Alaskan stories. Ketchikan is home to a variety of animals, including bears, eagles, deer, wolves and mountian goats. Salmon is a huge part of our economy, with five species making Ketchikan the Salmon Capital of the world. Ketchikan is the first city on the Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska. Explore my home with me on a tour.

Ketchikan
We will drive to Herring Cove to find/view bears. Minutes away for this location is Beaver Falls. Feel the cool freshness of the water flowing with the rich green forest. As we drive along Tongass Narrows, we will be making stops for picture opportunities and making your memories last. Salmon Ladder is a great attraction during the spawn of the salmon. It will remind you of watching Discovery Channels. Potlatch Park is a replica of a native village, locally owned and operated by a Tshimpshian/Haida family. This property was once a fish camp for natives. Visit their musuem and see a totem carving center and a clan house that resemble home to my ancestors.

Lisa our tour guide is Alaskan Native. She is passionate and proud of her heritage. She was constantly pointing out things to see on our drive. We enjoyed visiting & learning about Totem Bight state park and Potlatch totem park. Unfortunately we couldnā€™t see the bear but she went beyond our time to spot the whale. We did salmon creek / ladder on our own which gave us more time for the rest of the tour.

We loved this tour! Lisa is so kind. She is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about her culture and the area of Ketchikan. She showed us some off the beaten path places and even sang us a song in her language. You won't regret taking this tour!
