3-hour Private Tour

Overview
Each tour is lead by an experienced Navajo guide, who is certified by the Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation Dept. and National Park Service. Each and everyone of our guides was born and raised in this Canyon De Chelly area, allowing them to gain a vast knowledge of its history to share with all our guests who visit this place we call home. As well as learning about the canyon's rich history, rock art sites and other archeological sites, you will hear stories and tales of life in the canyon and get a chance to visit our guide's families who still weave, farm, ranch, and continue to live a traditional Navajo lifestyle in this rural part of the southwest. We invite you to join one of our guides on a truly unique and one of a kind tour, and to support this 100% NAVAJO OWNED and OPERATED SMALL BUSINESS!! Ahéhee' (thank you)

TJ Hunter was our guide for the most awesome jeep tour of Canyon de Chelly! TJ explained the petroglyphs, geology, history, and splendor of the canyon BUT he also took us to his family’s home in the canyon where I got to see a spinning and weaving demonstration! As a spinner and weaver myself, I was as dumbstruck as if I saw Keith Partridge playing the guitar! I got to soak in the wonder of Kathy doing her weaving art and her husband, Joe, showed my husband around their amazing property. There are opportunities to buy art from local artists, so be prepared to shop if you are looking to collect amazing and authentic treasures! Check out this awesome Jeep tour!!!

Our driver, Ben, a full blooded Navajo raided in the Canyon (he showed us his childhood home way back in Canyon del Muerto, an off-shoot from Chelly), gave us a thorough briefing on the archeological and anthropological history of the Canyon during the jeep ride into and out of the canyon. We have nothing but the highest praise for his service. Our only negative was the angst we suffered, which came about because we were unable to contact the company directly the morning of our tour to assure ourselves of the time and meeting place (our hotel, the Holiday Inn, a perfect place to stay for this excursion), since I had booked the tour thru TA/Viator late the night before. No one responded to our texts, emails, or phone calls the next AM (tour scheduled for 1 PM that day--some confusion as we were in Arizona, on Pacific Time, where as the Indian Reservation (where the Canyon is located) is on Mountain Time. We even managed to find the company's office (at the mouth of the canyon, inside the park) but it was empty and locked up at 12:30 MT. We just had to return to the hotel (only 0.2 miles away) and sit and wait. Thankfully, Ben showed up in his jeep at precisely 1:00 PM and we were off on a great tour. Problem was that he was on a morning tour and there was no backup at office. Lou

Our family of 4 (parents & 2 teenagers) did a 3 hour private tour of Canyon deChelly with Leander who is native to the Canyon and so knowledgeable about the history, the ruins and lifestyle of the Navajo people who continue to inhabit this beautiful and unique landscape. His details about the ancient rock art that can be seen throughout the canyon, the various rock formations, and his personal insight into Navajo culture and their belief system made our tour so meaningful. We loved everything about it from flying through the canyon with the wind in our hair, to visiting with Leander's aunt who practices the traditional Navajo lifestyle and spends her summers down in the canyon. We were fortunate to spend time at her home and view a demonstration of the traditional Navajo method of carpet weaving from raw wool to finished product. We highly recommend Beauty Way Jeep Tours - all-in-all an outstanding experience!
