Took a 9am flight out from AZ on Saturday the 29th 2018. Scheduling was not ideal, as we wanted a later flight time and they offered to split up my family of four. We sucked it up and made the early morning drive. Turns out it was the first morning the sky was clear enough to fly that early, and it was really quite lovely. My son and I got to sit in the front and the view was spectacular! Our pilot was awesome (even leaning down to get out of scenery photos) and we got a full hour flight.

My husband and I booked the Canyon Spirit, 45-50min tour with Maverick Helicopters as part of a 3 week tour around the west of America. We booked it online a month before we went through the chat option on their website, where they gave us a bit of a discount and all the information we needed. We were told to book in advance because it gets so busy and booked up and we were really glad we did. We did a lot of research on the different options of people to fly with and it paid off because there's nothing we'd change about the one we did. It cost $544 for both of us, which is a lot of money but we'd totally recommend it. We flew at 8am on Thursday September 15, 2018. It was a perfect time and day. The weather was amazing and it was all perfect for the flight. You have to get there about 30 mins before the flight and you're weighed so they can allocate you in the helicopter according to weight, to spread it out. You can't choose or request a specific seat. Fortunately my husband and I got to sit in the front and it was spectacular. The helicopter is largely glass and from the front you can see right down to take in the view. However, there is a great view from every seat and I really wouldn't worry about where you sit. Each helicopter took 6 passengers, plus the pilot. Everyone has headphones and a microphone so you can all communicate with one another during the flight and ask questions. We were fascinated by the number of helicopters that took off at similar times but yet once you're in the air and going over the canyon you can't see any at all. It felt like you were the only one in the air and it's very difficult to take in the sheer scale of the canyon even when you can see a lot of it. There wasn't anything scary about it or unnerving, we absolutely loved our first trip in a helicopter. We would thoroughly recommend this trip.
