2 of us booked the 45 minute Grand Canyon tour that departs from the local airport. Easy to book, easy to check in. Each helicopter has 2 rows with 4 seats each. I had the unfortunate luck to draw one of the middle seats in the back row, but the views were still fantastic. Pilot was great with the tour and answered any questions we had. Yes, it's pricy, but I thought it was totally worth it!

The Grand Canyon scenery was absolutely spectacular from the ground so we were expecting even better views from the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. However, unfortunately we were allocated middle back row seats and the views out of the windows were severely restricted. Those fortunate enough to have been allocated front row seats had unrestricted views. Seat allocation is determined by helicopter weight and balance requirements so you don’t get a choice where you are seated but you pay the same price. In summary we did not consider back row middle seats were value for money and wished we had not bothered with the Helicopter Flight and spent more time enjoying the spectacular scenery on the ground.

We at Maverick Helicopters make safety our top priority and while I understand and empathize with your frustration in regards to the seating situation, we have to be very careful to properly balance the helicopter and all seating arrangements reflect that. We do feel we are providing a quality product no matter where you are seated in the aircraft. We appreciate your feedback and wish we could have left you with a greater experience.

Maverick is a pro at the helicopter tour so it feels pretty regimented. The weather had been rainy so they were not allowed to fly this route over the canyon. They offered the shorter 20 minute flight and a $30 per person refund or our money back. We decided to go. Be aware this flight uses a small helicopter that they cram the pilot and SIX passengers into. It is just a straight shot across the deepest part of the canyon. They have no control over the weather but I have learned not to book these kinds of things until you are on the ground and can see the conditions. The refund was tiny for the disappointment.

We are sorry that you experienced a downgraded flight in the canyon. Safety is our top priority and we do not cancel any portion of our tours lightly as we know that people plan their Grand Canyon visits well in advance. We appreciate you leaving a review and are sorry that due to weather we couldn't provide the full flight you expected.
