What To Expect

Kaibab National Forest

You will depart Tusayan, Arizona located in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on the safest and most comfortable-tourism based helicopter in the world. On your 45-minute helicopter flight, enjoy the luxurious comfort and wraparound windows which offer breathtaking views of the Canyon. Enjoy the fantastic views of the Canyon as you fly over the 1.6 million-acre (6,500 km²) Kaibab National Forest, which borders both the north and south rims of the Grand Canyon. The Kaibab National Forest is home to the world’s largest ponderosa pines.

Painted Desert

You will continue your journey as you follow the Colorado River upstream viewing at a distance the 146-square mile Painted Desert and the 70-foot (21-meter) Desert View Watchtower, a National Historic Landmark.

Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower

The Desert View Watchtower features an observation deck from which visitors to the national park can view eastern portions of the Grand Canyon.

Marble Canyon

Next, view Marble Canyon, the section of the Colorado River which marks the beginning of the Grand Canyon, and Point Imperial, the highest point on the North Rim at 8,803 feet (2,683 meters). Point Imperial overlooks the Painted Desert and the eastern end of Grand Canyon. You will fly through the Canyon above the North Rim heading south through the Dragon Corridor, the widest and deepest section of the Canyon.

Colorado River

At the end of your helicopter flight, you will cross over the Colorado River and fly over the South Rim and the Kaibab National Forest to land. Please note: Per FAA regulations, all passengers 18 years and older will be required to show photo ID such as a driver's license or passport at the time of check-in.

Our family selected this flight as an option on our G Adventures tour. The experience in he helicopter was, literally, the experience of a lifetime. Absolutely breathtaking! Our pilot BJ was absolutely wonderful, getting us all involved and pointing out lots of interesting aspects. He even shared his favourite playlist with us. The experience on the ground was fantastic as well, with a great setup and very friendly and helpful staff. I could not fault the experience and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Grand Canyon.

What an experience to have and the best way to see so much of the canyon that you dont see from standing at the rim. Maverick h3licopters were a very professional company and our pilot Fred was brilliant. Informative but not over the top and gave you time to take the wonders all in but witty and made the experience all the more enjoyable. Could not rate it high enough

This was a trip that my wife and I had been looking forward to for years. I am a former Army Helicopter Pilot who flew in Vietnam. The staff made sure that our pilot was Sean, another former Army pilot who flew helicopters in Afghanistan. We were fortunate to be seated in the front, which brought back memories for me and allowed my wife to experience the flight from my former point of view. The flight over the Canyon was breathtaking to put it mildly. Sean was very competent and professional and provided good commentary during the flight. Our thanks to Maverick for an experience we will never forget.
