45 Minute Semi-Submarine Tour of Catalina Island From Avalon

Overview
Come aboard Catalina Island's newest semi-submarine, the SS Nautilus, and enjoy a deep sea adventure 1,000 leagues beyond your imagination. The main attraction of this unique vessel allows six feet underwater viewing while staying dry so eager seafarers can get up close and face-to-face with schools of fish anticipating treats fired away from custom designed fish food torpedo buttons. Designed after America's first nuclear powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, the 45-minute journey is the destination itself as our captain and his crew ventures out on an exploratory mission to the undersea gardens of Avalon Bay.

The kids had a great time. The ticket is overpriced. Especially when they tack on additional cash charges for fish food once your in the sub. It felt a little like a scam. Especially when the ticket was like $45 a pop. That said… kids under 10 will Love it.

Not impressed. The viewing windows were obscure by algae. The "guide"'s accent was so pronounced we could only understand 10% of what he said, which was fine because he mainly tried to sell us food for the fish. He actually went so far as to say the trip would be no good if not enough people bought food. If you're selling us a trip to view fish underwater, shouldn't you be taking care of that?

Went as a party of four on this submarine trip. We sat together on single seats so we each had a window until employee Lai told one in our party he had to move. Lai then had a girl sit in one of our party's seat to be next to a double seat with friends. He could have had them sit elsewhere. We were the first 4 people on the boat. How can you expect others to give up their seats who were on the boat first? Sorry, if you're not in line first, don't expect others to give up their spot with their group. Totally unprofessional! Never again with this place!
