45 Minute Semi-Submarine Tour of Catalina Island From Avalon

Overview
Come aboard Catalina Island's newest semi-submarine, the SS Nautilus, and enjoy a deep sea adventure 1,000 leagues beyond your imagination. The main attraction of this unique vessel allows six feet underwater viewing while staying dry so eager seafarers can get up close and face-to-face with schools of fish anticipating treats fired away from custom designed fish food torpedo buttons. Designed after America's first nuclear powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, the 45-minute journey is the destination itself as our captain and his crew ventures out on an exploratory mission to the undersea gardens of Avalon Bay.

It was a nice experience, but I would definitely not do it again. Based on my experience as an adult this more of a tour for kids. You basically just float on top of the water & the only time you see fish close & clear is when you or your neighbor buy food to feed them. All other underwater sites/fish are far & foggy. The host/captain was very good & entertaining.

My son turned 6 years old and wanted to ride a submarine. So we flew down to Los Angeles, took a ferry to Catalina island just to go onto this yellow submarine. We waited in line but my son needed to go to the bathroom. We asked the guy if there was one on the sub and they said no. Then they pointed us to the nearest one. I said we'd be right back and we ran to the bathroom. We ran back and as soon as we arrived, the sub was shoving off. This guy couldn't wait another 30 seconds to let us on. It was Thanksgiving by the way.
