We just finished our 5-day, 4-night hike in Yosemite, and I can’t say enough positive things about Lasting Adventures and our guide, Kara. Our family group ranged in age from 11 to 76 (the latter being in exceptionally good shape for his age). I wasn’t sure we would be able to complete the 35-mile trek when I first lifted my fully loaded backpack, but with Kara’s guidance and enthusiasm, we did it. She reviewed our equipment, gave us packing advice, and showed us the map of our itinerary – and then we were off! Throughout our time in the back country, Kara was knowledgeable about hiking, supportive whenever anyone had a problem, and informed about the history of Yosemite. And her history as a teacher/counselor was clear in her easy engagement with our kids. Our route was stunning – from Tuolumne Meadows to the tops of Yosemite Falls and El Capitan, Eagle Peak, Snow Creek, and various gorgeous views of Half Dome, etc. Her pace was just right. She’d have us up early with coffee and breakfast and get us packed up so we’d be off by 9am. Then we’d hike and have a delicious lunch in the field – typically at an amazing site overlooking the entire valley. We stopped at creeks and rivers to cool off and collect water – and she’d point out different plants and animals along the way. When we got to our camp site each night, she made impressive gourmet meals while teaching us about nature and Yosemite history and legends. I strongly recommend Lasting Adventures to anyone looking for an in-depth experience in one of our most spectacular national parks.

This was a very much anticipated trip for my 21 year old son and I following the death of my husband a few months ago. It was a trip my family and I talked about doing some day so this trip became a celebration of his life, love of the outdoors and honoring his dreams. Not having backpacked in over 30 years, I was so happy to have secured Lasting Adventures as a tour company. I knew enough to know what we didn't know and I wanted to make sure we were safe, well prepared and could have the best experience we could possibly have not knowing the park ourselves. I ultimately chose Lasting Adventures among other tour companies because we love the mission and the overall down to earth feel of their organization. Both of these resonated with our own values. All of the staff we were in contact with at Lasting Adventures were absolutely amazing. Chrissy, who is a part of the Administrative Team, was extremely helpful in my early trip planning. She answered many questions I had in choosing the right trip both through email and phone calls as well as making sure we knew everything we needed. Just prior to our backpacking trip, we began receiving helpful emails about anticipated weather changes and preparation. As we were already in California (traveled from NH), we opted to continue with our plans. Quinn was our guide and absolutely made our trip safe, memorable and as enjoyable as possible given the constant changing weather challenges. Our plans had to be continuously modified due to the uncharacteristic weather for late May. We had rain, sleet, snow, hail, cold and even some sun at times. These fluctuations created many challenges to our itinerary. We found Quinn was amazing through it all. He had an amazing ability to keep the group morale up with his humor all the while constantly re-planning our next steps for making the most of our trip. His professionalism, leadership and back country skills, good humor and approachability made us feel comfortable, confident and at ease with all of our changing plans. Although we did not get to complete our trip due to the weather, we are definitely coming back to Yosemite and Lasting Adventures. Having a very competent guide is essential to making the most of your Yosemite trip especially if you are unfamiliar with the park as we were. We are ever so grateful that we were able to experience what we did with an exceptional guide and exceptional organization. Thank you Quinn and Lasting Adventures! We will be back. Denise, NH
