5 Day Yosemite Backpacking - Yosemite Icons

Overview
For the hiker wanting to see it all, the Yosemite Icons trip offers stunning views of Yosemite’s most famous landmarks from rarely seen perspectives. Experience the adrenalin rush of peering over the sheer 3,000 foot face of El Capitan –the mecca of rock climbers around the world. Feel the mist of the roaring Yosemite Falls as you stand over the water plunging nearly 1500 feet to the pool below making it one of the tallest free-falling waterfalls in the world. Have lunch while gazing down on the granite bubble North Dome and relax while watching the sunset on the valley from Eagle Peak. This is a bucket list backpacking trip that lets you get up close and personal with scenes most people only see on postcards in the gift shop.

I am so delighted to have accomplished my goal of hiking the 5 day Yosemite Icons Backpacking trip. It was personally challenging, meaningful and amazingly beautiful. At 54 and recently back in hiking shape, it was quite the reward to experience completing the journey and taking in parts of Yosemite's beauty that few travel. I know I could not have had this experience without an incredible guide, Will, who made our journey stress free, fun and filled with great meals and interesting conversations. I had the luxury of just following his steps and just take in all that Yosemite offers those willing to go off the beaten path knowing that we were in good hands. Each day we were presented with options and choices to customize the day ahead. Will is a master at cooking flavorful dishes on the trail which were a real treat for our group. This is my second experience with Lasting Adventures and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are exceptional in professionally guiding, educating, promoting stewardship, using quality equipment and cultivating the love of the outdoors and our own individual experience in it. I look forward to returning again. Thank you Will and thank you Lasting Adventures 🤗.

I, along with 3 other 50 year old guys, signed up for the icons backpacking trip as a bucket list experience. From the very beginning, Last Adventures made it very enjoyable. From the time we signed up until the time we showed up in Yosemite, Scott at Lasting Adventures was extremely communicative and very patient with what were probably childish questions. Once we arrived, we were treated to Jenna, who was our guide for the trip. Not only was she knowledgeable, but she was extremely personal, very professional, organized beyond comprehension, and an outstanding cook! She alone made the experience first class. As for the trip itself, it was physically demanding, but not so tough that we didn’t enjoy it. The “icons” of Yosemite were truly amazing and something everyone should see. I would highly recommend Lasting Adventures for your excursion to Yosemite.

We just finished our 5-day, 4-night hike in Yosemite, and I can’t say enough positive things about Lasting Adventures and our guide, Kara. Our family group ranged in age from 11 to 76 (the latter being in exceptionally good shape for his age). I wasn’t sure we would be able to complete the 35-mile trek when I first lifted my fully loaded backpack, but with Kara’s guidance and enthusiasm, we did it. She reviewed our equipment, gave us packing advice, and showed us the map of our itinerary – and then we were off! Throughout our time in the back country, Kara was knowledgeable about hiking, supportive whenever anyone had a problem, and informed about the history of Yosemite. And her history as a teacher/counselor was clear in her easy engagement with our kids. Our route was stunning – from Tuolumne Meadows to the tops of Yosemite Falls and El Capitan, Eagle Peak, Snow Creek, and various gorgeous views of Half Dome, etc. Her pace was just right. She’d have us up early with coffee and breakfast and get us packed up so we’d be off by 9am. Then we’d hike and have a delicious lunch in the field – typically at an amazing site overlooking the entire valley. We stopped at creeks and rivers to cool off and collect water – and she’d point out different plants and animals along the way. When we got to our camp site each night, she made impressive gourmet meals while teaching us about nature and Yosemite history and legends. I strongly recommend Lasting Adventures to anyone looking for an in-depth experience in one of our most spectacular national parks.
