Somes Sound is a fjard, a body of water running deep into Mount Desert Island, the main site of Acadia National Park in Maine, United States. Its deepest point is approximately 175 feet, and it is over 100 feet deep in several places. The sound almost splits the island in two.

Seawall Pond
Many of Maine's beaches are covered with cobblestones, but this coastline is unique. Powerful ocean storms created a massive seawall. As waves break, they carry rocks from the base of the beach and carry them up to shore. As the tides come in and out, heavier stones get piled at the top and smaller, lighter stones remain down the slope.

We booked a last minute trip to Bar Harbor and really wanted to visit Acadia National Park, but had absolutely no idea where to start. We reached out to At Your Service Tours and Clare was able to book us a last-minute 6-hour tour! We are SO happy we did! Pete, our tour guide, was phenomenal! He was super friendly and new a lot about the history of Bar Harbor, Acadia, and the surrounding areas! He knew all of the BEST spots! We had the most amazing trip and are already excited to go back and explore Acadia again this Fall! Clare and Pete were amazing! I can't say enough great things about them. Without At Your Service, our trip would not have been the same! They took away all of the stress so we could focus on making memories with our kids.

I just wanted to let everyone know how pleased we were with the tour we recently took with this company while in Bar Harbor. Our ship was 2 hours late and we appreciated all efforts the tour company took in order to find us. Pete who took us on our 6 hour private tour was a delight. He made sure we saw everything we wanted to see and spent however long we wanted at each site. He had an extensive knowledge of Bar Harbor and even got us back to the ship on time. I highly recommend this tour company while visiting Bar Harbor.
