70-Minute Guided Downtown Eureka Springs Walking Tour

Overview
The tour offers a chance to learn about the history of Downtown Eureka Springs - starting before the founding of the town, the people who have made history downtown, and the unique geography of three underground systems - caves and cliffs, the Mud Street rebuild, and the creek that runs under it all.

Walking through the entertainment and shopping district, you get a feel for life as it was, the art district it is now, and see the hidden treasures throughout. Told in stories and vignettes along the way, the tour is a treat for all ages.

You visit an intact underground storefront covered over in the making of the Underground. This is only open to visitors to our tour. This is not an adventure tour. The underground systems are explained, but only the underground storefront is visited.

This was a great tour and really informative! A great way to start our visit to Eureka Springs. David was an amazing tour guide and a wonderful storyteller. It also didnā€™t hurt that he resembles George Clooney :)

I thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour. David was an exceptional tour guide, keeping up a running dialogue both humorous and informative. We thought he did a great job of educating us in a very entertaining format. My husband and I are in our seventies and we were concerned about the steps. The path our guide took us on was thoughtfully planned and with one exception almost all of the stairs went downhill. I highly recommend the tour. Iā€™ve been to Eureka Springs several times but didnā€™t know much about its history. The price of this tour is a great value and a fun way to learn about this charming city.

We are so happy that you took the time and braved the stairs! We really try to make this stair-step town as easy as possible. It's guests like you that make the work we do as a Main Street organization so fulfilling.

If you enjoy your vacations with a side of history I highly recommend taking the Underground Eureka tour. This is by far one of the best walking tours I have ever done, David was a fantastic guide who wove the town's history through an entertaining 90-minute walk around town and into the underground of the former bathhouse. The tour was a full timeline of the town's history and I left feeling more connected to this amazing part of our country. While there are many steps involved, 90% are downhill so it's very manageable if you have no mobility issues. Spoiler alert... if you do not like stairs do not come to Eureka Springs, it's built on the side of a hill, so If you come here you will encounter stairs everywhere you go. Overall. a truly must-do while you're here!

Thank you so much Natalie! We especially love vacay with a side of history, but we are probably biased! And the walking... well... it is just part of being in a town hanging to the side of a cliff. Thanks from all of us at Main Street Eureka Springs. Your tickets help keep Downtown vibrant.
