What To Expect

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

Native guides will lead you through the meandering bayou in a shady, spacious pontoons boat under a relaxing breeze. Learn about the swamp's ecosystem and all of its mysterious lore while viewing the gators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and snakes that call the swamp their home. If you are coming from New Orleans and need a hotel pick up, Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour offers pick-ups/drop-offs at select hotel locations for an additional fee. Please call for exact pick-up time/location options and to reserve your transport. All pickups are 1 hour prior to tour. There's a lunch option available for the 10 a.m. where you will dine at Restaurant Des Familes after your swamp adventure.

This was an excellent tour. It was about a 25 minute drive from downtown. Please follow the swamp tour signs on the road once you get close because my gps was directing me to turn earlier than I should have. Anyway, I brought along my 5 year old and 18 year old and they had a good time. We saw a bunch of alligators, birds and turtles. Also some sort of jumping fish. Our guide Darren (?) was great. He kept us laughing, explained so much history and always stopped the boat to allow us to get great pics. He also had snacks for purchase and a restroom on board. Great experience!

Vaptain Jayson was great! He didn't have to exert too much effort to get our family's attention! Definitely a must once in Nola!

This was an interesting tour. Saw several alligators before we even pulled off. Jason was a very knowledgeable guide and driver. My grandchildren were very disappointed that they didn't get to hold a baby alligator. I was very disappointed that after I played extra for the bus to the swamp at 175.00 for 7 people, the air conditioning was not working. Other than that, the tour was interesting.
