A Taste of the Delta: Half-day Tour from Courtland

Overview
Spend a half day discovering the hidden gems of the historic Delta, known as the ‘heart’ of California. The Delta is a network of intricate waterways, canals and sloughs, charming small towns steeped in lore, 50 plus islands, national historic landmarks, nature preserves and agricultural abundance tucked away just a stone’s throw from the Bay Area and Sacramento. The area is home to legacy towns that were established along the Sacramento River along with the steamboat trade. The famous ‘Delta breeze’ cools the land in the evening on even the hottest days, and its rich soil make it the perfect home to farms and wineries. The Delta is rich and mysterious, a labyrinth of draw bridges, legendary watering holes and even a haunted mansion. Our Taste of the Delta Tour will introduce you to a few local gems that represent the history of pear farming, wine making and the bounty of this region.

I booked the "Taste of the Delta" tour for my friend's bachelorette party. Heather at SacTown Bites was wonderful to work with. She was easy to get a hold of and even helped me get a cake from Freeport Bakery to end the tour with. Heather was a wonderful wealth of knowledge, and it was like she was a part of the group :) She took pictures for us and sent them the next day for me to share with the ladies. The Cidery and Winery were wonderful, and the lunch was fantastic -- BEST CORNBREAD PUDDING I've ever had. I'm looking forward to booking another tour soon!

Our family had a wonderful day outing on the Taste of the Delta Tour! Heather was so warm and personable, and we learned a lot about this important agricultural area. We loved the scenic drive between stops and the very personal attention we got at the cidery tour and vineyard tasting. One tip would be to definitely opt for the drinks package—the ciders and wines were highlighted on this tour. A second tip for more history on the area would be to set some time beforehand for a stop at the Locke National Historic District which is very close to the start of the tour.
