Curious about Portland's history with railroads, fires, wars, famous poets and Hollywood producers? Join us for a Walk Through Time! This tour begins on Commercial Street and continues for 2 hours through the historic Old Port, downtown and waterfront areas, sharing highlights of Portland's history since 1632.

Some of the locations we may feature on your tour include; the lobster statue, the home of Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow and his place of worship, the Eastern Cemetery, the Abyssinian Church, the U.S. Customs House and more.

***Tour duration is two "ish" hours, based on guest engagement and pace of the group. Planning on 2.5 hours for arriving early to check-in and make it back to your vehicle post tour is recommended.

My wife and I traveled to Portland Maine this past weekend (August 20th 2022) for my birthday. My wife booked the Portland Venture to try a few different restaurants in the Portland area. Our guide was Jason G. He was so much fun, but moreso, very knowledgeable about the city, restaurants, and some of the historical landmarks. he was a very personable guy and you need that type of a personality on a 2 hour walk. It was one of the best parts about our trip to Portland. We were able to try some great local food and drinks and learn so much about a fantastic city! We will definitely be back. Jason was fantastic and we highly recommend asking for him through Maine Day Ventures! you won't be disappointed!

Our tour guide, James, was a long time resident of Portland and well versed in the town’s history. While on the tour he pointed out local eateries, businesses, and additional activities that are popular in town. He took the time to have our small group of 10 introduce ourselves which made the experience more personal. I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in Portland’s history and a desire to see more of the city with a local.
