Adults Only - Historic Red Light District Walking Tour

Overview
If you’re looking for something less familiar than “haunted history”—but just as entertaining—this daytime journey through the sex, class, and music of “Storyville”, our historic “vice district”, is just what the witch doctor ordered. Populated with legendary brothel owners, notorious criminals, crusaders for equality, and pioneering jazz virtuosos, this is a stroll through some of the most jaw-dropping history the state of Louisiana has to offer.

Thanks to the miraculous work of city archivists, as well as historians like the one who curated our tour, Hottest Hell is now able to resurrect this forgotten neighborhood through a combination of historic photographs, visual aids, and narrative storytelling. Each tour guests receives their own “blue book” - modeled after the printed ‘guides to gals’ that ‘Tenderloin’ visitors could purchase - to help better see what was lost when Storyville was replaced.

Our tours go out rain or shine. Intoxicated travelers will not be permitted.

This was an amazing tour for the value!!! There was a TON of great information! Our guide left time after each stop to answer questions, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and it's history. It was great to book a tour that gave you chills over the true stories and information instead of dressing up and trying to act like a random voodoo character like the other tours that passed us. Our guide was also great at making sure the group was always safe and accounted for. We were in the tour group where on the opposite side of the street, there was a homeless man decorating a car with a street sign, and our safety was our guide's #1 concern. He was even able to tie what the guy was doing in with one of the stories with a great pun. Overall it was an amazing tour, and If we're back, we'll definitely book another one of theirs!

Thank you so much!! The only thing more important to us than the entertainment of our guests is their safety, and we agree the stories we tell are good enough on their own without the need for adding any unnecessary dairy content or hokey packaging! Thanks for taking the time to write this INCREDIBLE review!!

I'm so glad I found this tour company. I'm a history nerd and this tour was awesome. I have been reading a bunch about Storyville since my last visit to New Orleans so it was awesome to see a tour about the "Backatown." While there aren't too many buildings left to see, it was still a great tour, with fantastic information, and the companion booklet you're giving helps you really picture what it must have been like back then. I fully recommend this tour. The company was also very helpful when I had to alter my reservation because a friend had to cancel. Awesome people. Take this tour!

Thank you Cameron!! Some of our favorite guests are the fellow history nerds out there, and that's exactly why we developed the Backatown tour to reveal all the secrets of Storyville that you can't find anywhere else. We truly appreciate you sharing this fantastic review and recommendation with everyone!
