Castner Glacier is an ancient glacier in the Eastern Alaska Range, about a three hour drive South East of Fairbanks. In all seasons it is possible to hike up to the glacier, and in winter you can actually walk in to the ice cave in the glacier and view the amazing natural ice formations. This is a moderately difficult and popular hike, especially on late winter weekends with nice weather and on holidays. This is an all day tour. Pickup begins at 6AM at the hotel of your choice in the Fairbanks city limits and drop offs will be no later than 6PM. Rest stops with bathrooms will be available, however there are no restrooms at the trailhead. We will provide snowshoes and poles. You must bring a winter jacket, snow pants and boots, with hat and gloves.
