Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour - ANCHORAGE AREA

Overview
The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 4 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a huge snow eld high on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for an exhilarating ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush your own dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, listen to stories about running sled dog races of over a 1,000 miles long, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

We loved our Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour! We own a travel agency in central Indiana and we wanted to find great experiences for future travel groups. Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour is a winner! The guides at each of the dog sled camp on the glacier were friendly and very knowledgeable! Our helicopter pilot, Ben Habecker, was highly skilled and a great flier! He smoothly landed next to a super blue pool of water on the glacier. He safely led us out to the pool and explained many features about the glacier. One tip: make sure you go as early in the day as possible, when the snow at the dogsled camp is frozen and firm. If you go late in the day and it's sunny, the snow will be slushy and the dogsled ride will be mushy! We highly recommend the Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour -- it was one the highlights of our two weeks in central Alaska!

I came up with my 15 and 18 year old sons. The weather and visibility were perfect. What a memorable trip! The view was fantastic, the service was excellent and it was so much fun meeting and working with the dogs. We loved it!

It was our first time in a helicopter. Seeing the landscape and glaciers from a birds eye view was really something. We flew over the dog camp and landed. We were immediately met by one of the mushers who told us what to expect. We broke off into groups where we met our musher Ben, who told us about mushing, the individual dogs and living on a glacier for 8 days at a time. We were then invited to view their living quarters and dining cabin. Experiencing the driving, and meeting the dogs, along with info on what it takes to get dogs racing was awesome.
