Overview

Taking off from the Alaska Glacier Lodge in the Mat-Su Valley to the Knik Glacier (5 miles wide by 29 miles long!). We land right in the middle of the Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes on ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. We provide ice spikes for you to safely hike on the ice Take pictures of the blue lakes on top of the glacier, crevasses and ice ‘sculptures’ made by wind, sunshine & time. (Summer)
TRANSFERS FROM ANCHORAGE If you do not have a rental car we can provide transfer service from Anchorage to our location (45 mins North of Anchorage ) for an added fee for select tour times. Call us direct to schedule!
WINTER TOURS please note that this tour in some winter months may not land directly on top of the glacier due to snow cover and safety issues, landing may be on the side next to incredible deep blue ice formations (an equally spectacular experience)

Alaska Helicopter Tour was the highlight of our Alaska trip. We had a great time! Bailey was our pilot and he was very friendly and professional. Our tour was initially canceled because of the bad weather but rescheduling it was very easy. The team was very accommodating. They initially had to cancel it because safety comes first, which we were okay with. We got the helicopter tour with hotel transfers. Kevin picked us up at the hotel. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. Their whole team made our trip unforgettable. It was our first time to ride a helicopter but it definitely won’t be the last. We’ll come back again during the summer and do another helicopter tour. Thank you Alaska Helicopter Tour! We really had a great time! Highly recommended. Worth the price!

The operator delayed the pick up by an hour hour. On the way to the helicopter site, the driver was told that our flight had been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. I strongly suspect that the flight was cancelled due to a delay in the earlier flight taking off. Very unprofessional.

Clive, Thank you so much for your honest review. We appreciate these types of reviews so we can further educate those who are thinking of doing our tour. You are incorrect in your suspicion. In aviation, adverse weather can happen. We can not always predict when this may happen and sometimes it can cause delays and possible cancellations. On the day of your tour October 12, we had weather that cause icing conditions which is VERY unsafe to fly in. Alaska Helicopter Tours is the ONLY helicopter operator in the state of Alaska with a Zero accident Zero incident rate. Where we were able to fly the tours in the morning, unfortunately your afternoon flight and the other remaining afternoon flights did have to be cancelled for safety reasons. We always HIGHLY recommend that anyone doing any type of air tour (plane or helicopter) schedule their tour for the beginning of their trip so if weather is a factor they can reschedule for a later date. It seems you were unable to be rescheduled and where we are sorry you didn’t get to experience this tour, we stand by and will always stand by our decision to keep our guests safe.
