Overview

Taking off from the Alaska Glacier Lodge in the Mat-Su Valley to the Knik Glacier (5 miles wide by 29 miles long!). We land right in the middle of the Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes on ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. We provide ice spikes for you to safely hike on the ice Take pictures of the blue lakes on top of the glacier, crevasses and ice ‘sculptures’ made by wind, sunshine & time. (Summer)
**WINTER TOURS (Oct-April) please note that this tour in some winter months may not land directly on top of the glacier due to snow cover and safety issues, landing may be on the side next to incredible deep blue ice formations**
Total tour time 1 hour includes 30 mins for round trip flightseeing

WINTER TOURS - October - April -we are unable to land on top of the glacier due to snow cover. We will land next to the glaciers near the massive ice formations
Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
VAN TRANSFERS TO DEPARTURE LOCATION NOT INCLUDED - can be added for a fee

We did the 2-hour tour with 2 glacier landings and dog sled. This experience was definitely the highlight of our trip to Alaska. The ground staff was excellent. The facilities were extremely clean, and the entire resort looked almost brand new. Our pilot, Wyatt, was great and made us feel comfortable during the whole trip. He even took extra care to find us a blue water pool that was clean and safe to drink from when doing the 2nd glacier landing. He flew the helicopter extremely well despite the inclement weather. At the dog camp, our musher, Emily, was excellent. She was very informative and kindly helped us get situated in the dog sleds. After sledding, she also showed us around the camp, including her cabin and newborn puppies! Most importantly, every employee made us feel like our safety was the #1 priority, which eased our fears in the face of inclement weather. All the helicopters were in excellent condition and also appeared brand new. Without hesitation, we would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Alaska.

This was an amazing adventure! My son (17) and I (55) went on the trip together. Our pilot (Shane) was knowledgeable and professional. The flight was smooth and felt very safe. The glacier walk was absolutely breathtaking. On the flight back to the lodge included a land flyover where we saw black bear and several moose from the air. Highly recommend!!

The tour was amazing. Our guide Shane was exceptional. He was very friendly and made sure we were all comfortable and had a great time. We saw a lot of wildlife around the mountains. The glacier landing was out of this world. Overall a great experience and the entire staff along with our pilot/guide were all amazing people.
