Our journey on the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Dome from Denali to Anchorage was an enchanting experience! The scenic train ride offered breathtaking views, and the commentary provided was perfectly balanced—informative without being overwhelming. It highlighted key areas of interest without constant chatter, allowing us to soak in the stunning landscapes. The onboard staff were simply AMAZING, attentive and friendly, ensuring we had a comfortable and enjoyable trip. The food, while not fancy, was decent and fairly priced. The drinks kept flowing, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. The only drawback was the lack of power outlets in the GoldStar Dome cars, unlike the other cars. However, this minor inconvenience did not overshadow the overall wonderful experience. If you’re traveling between Denali and Anchorage, the GoldStar Dome option is highly recommended for its excellent service, beautiful views, and overall comfort.

Our 8 hour train ride turned into a 15 hour train ride. We sat still for so long by the time we saw the scenery we were so tired and annoyed. Train was to leave at 12 pm, it left at 12:40pm we were supposed to be in Anchorage at 8pm our actual time of arrival was after 3 am. Horrible experience

This 8-hour Gold Star ride took us 15 hours! Hundreds of people missed connections and lost out on reservations because Gold Star leadership decided to tow a broken down train with our fully loaded train, all at the expense of their customers. Their self-concern and greed was the obvious motivation. The people on the broken train were evacuated, placed on buses at the train tracks, and their luggage thrown in the dirt. We lost hours of time waiting for this to happen, sitting still, and then continued to tow the brokendown train all the way to Anchorage. Kitchen staff and engineers were tasked with carrying luggage to the side and along the tracks. The treatment of their employees and concern for their customers is disgraceful. This stole a day of our vacation. We were all left stranded, without transportation at the train depot, fighting to get our luggage. We had to pay over $500 for a hotel room that we were in for about 6 hours. We were supposed to arrive at our hotel at 8:30 pm, but arrived at 5:00 a.m. instead. Elderly passengers did not have access to needed medication. It was very stressful, as the situation was clouded in uncertainty. If you have health concerns, you should think twice about traveling on the Alaska Railroad. If you have limited time, you should think twice about traveling on the Alaska Railroad. Their crisis management is extremely poor. #leadership failure
