What To Expect

Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

This was our third flight with rainbow Ryders and our 2nd flight with Elijah Sanchez. This company is so easy to book with, flexible refund policy if weather does not allow flights. Elijah is a very experienced and serious pilot, who know how to navigate ABQ weather. he also makes it fun and enjoyable. Going during Balloon Fiesta is definitely worth it!

This was my second time flying with Rainbow Riders Inc., and it was even better than the first time! The people are very nice, and helpful. It must take a lot to organize this many people to get them up in the air, but they seem to do it effortlessly. This year our pilot was named Mark O'neill. He took the time to answer everyone's questions as best he could. He kept us in the air for quite some time, and got us back to the ground with barely a bump. Mark said he has been a balloon pilot for 22 years, and it showed. If you get a chance to go up in a hot air balloon, I for one say, "do not miss that chance"! I highly recommend taking in the Balloon Fiesta at least once also! Even if you don't fly, it is still an incredible experience!!!!!!! Rainbow Riders fly's most of the year, so if you don't visit during the Balloon Fiesta, you can still book a flight. Be sure to dress for cool weather in the morning. It is okay to walk amongst the balloons as they set up, and inflate, just try not to get in the way of the crew doing their jobs. Most of all.... Have a blast!
