What To Expect

Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

My mother and I went to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta on 10/14/2017 for our balloon ride. Everything from the check-in to the landing was perfect and went smoothly. They provide you with all the information you need leading up to and the day of your ride. I was hesitant to pay the inflated price of $450/per person during the Fiesta (it is $250/person not during the Fiesta time) but it was worth every penny! It was such an incredible experience and a must do on the bucket list. I definitely think it added to the experience going up with all the other balloons during the Fiesta. Since there are too many rides for Rainbow Ryders to facilitate during the Fiesta, they subcontract other companies. Our ride ended up being with Sundance Balloon Company and they were also incredible to work with. While the actual ride is subcontracted, you work with Rainbow Ryders the whole time. I called on multiple occassions to ensure I was all set to go and they were always quick to answer, friendly, and able to assist me. Their website has tons of helpful tips as well as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta site. Overall I was incredibly happy with the whole experience and would definitely recommend the ride, whether during the Fiesta or not!

Took a ride during a fiesta Mass Ascension. Staff was very organized, and highly polite, helpful, and friendly. Our pilot did a fantastic job and accommodate any reasonable request. The members of the chase crew were friendly and helpful. The flight? Words cannot describe how fantastic it is to take off and soar in the sky with 400, or so, other balloons, so I won't try. jJst do it. Its expensive but worth every penny.

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta sunrise ascension was absolutely wonderful. This was our first trip but not our last. Sheldon was the pilot and made the trip informative and fun. The feeling of floating away was wonderful along with the sight of all the other balloons rising and floating away. We had a great experience watching the balloons touching the Rio Grande and all the folks below that waved at us. Sheldon explained all about the balloon and how this experience would be. It was fun being part of the crew. The champagne toast was the icing on the cake. Thank you Rainbow Ryders and Sheldon for a wonderful flight.
