What To Expect

Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

This was our favorite activity in Albuquerque! Our pilot Kris and his crew Adam and Cage were absolutely incredible. They helped to make this experience extra special. The sunrise hot air balloon ride was amazing, the views over the city were spectacular as well as the informative commentary from Kris of the sites below. Adam and Cage helped to make our landing exciting and smooth. The whole flight crew was extremely friendly and added to our memorable time. The surprise mimosa toast at the end of the flight was the perfect cap off to an outstanding adventure. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone and everyone. Thanks Kris, Adam and Cage for a fabulous morning!

Our first visit to Albuquerque and our first hot air balloon ride. What a wonderful experience. The staff are highly skilled and helpful. We felt very safe (COVID-19 precautions, and the balloon experience itself). The view was spectacular and the flight was smooth. Our pilot Kris was incredibly skilled. Definitely recommend this experience and Rainbow Ryder.

Obviously Hot Air Balloon was on my todo list! Albuquerque is one of the famous spot for it. We did an early morning sunrise ride. It was an an amazing experience viewing the sunrise from the top through the mountains. We didn’t know about the risks of Hot Air Balloon until the pilot informed us in an easy and comfortable way. However he was experienced enough to tackle the winds, heights and heat obstacles. The team did a wonderful and very well organized job with departure and landing of the balloon. We were a group of 10 people in the basket and the ride was one hour long. Over all the experience was amazing and safe. They provided excellent service, from parking, to travel, to setting up, to departure, to landing, to return! The only down side is the location for me, Because of the California wild fire we couldn’t have a very clear scenic view. Mostly from the top you can see houses and the structure of Albuquerque city, including the pilot’s house, Mr. Dean!
