Overview

Enjoy two same day San Francisco experiences — a round trip express excursion to the Golden Gate Bridge (SF side) by minibus from Fisherman’s Wharf with an assigned time visit inside Alcatraz cellhouse.

Basic Tour departs Fisherman's Wharf to experience 45 minutes at the Golden Gate Bridge (SF side). There is also an option to upgrade in advance to visit the other side of the bridge in addition to San Francisco side or to choose a small group van experience. No food included.

Guests can upgrade to the "Walk The Bridge with Brunch" option where we drop guests at the other side of the bridge to which guests have TWO HOURS to walk back to the San Francisco side. Their efforts are rewarded with a $10 brunch credit and pick up at the Bridge Restaurant.

Light History Narration and Television Monitor Documentaries will be provided.
Guests will be dropped off directly at Pier 33 Alcatraz or Wharf.
Some dates may start with Alcatraz followed by Golden Gate Bridge.

What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

Step back in time and experience the legendary island that has been a civil war fort, a military prison and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US history. This memorable tour includes: 45 minute audio presentation "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cellhouse Tour," featuring actual correctional officers and prisoners who lived and worked on the Island; orientation video by Discovery Channel; ranger and docent tours; historic gardens and abundant wildlife.

Golden Gate Bridge

Round trip transportation from Fisherman's Wharf across the Golden Gate Bridge (one half hour each way) with a 30 minute stop over for pictures on the other side at Vista Point. Return to Fisherman's Wharf. Total van event is estimated 90 minutes* (allow for traffic/accidents/delays)

Good but waiting time between the golden bridge and alcatraz cruise is too long, almost one hour. Maybe it's not the case for every tour.

This is a long day event for everyone and we have families with children who need to eat. The 30 minutes to one hour in between covers lunch and any possibilities for traffic in route. As well; there are days where Alcatraz gives us time slots that simply do not fit into a desirable schedule. It would be simple to deny the sale or work around the small inconvenience. Thank you.

The visit to Alcatraz was awesome. But the history lesson on the way to the bridge was fantastic. I would highly recommend!

I didn’t realize when booking that we went to Alcatraz island alone on the ferry. I thought we booked a tour with someone. The tickets at the pier were much cheaper! We were emailed an itinerary the day before which said after Alcatraz, have lunch on our own and then a bus would pick us up to take us to Golden Gate Bridge. Honestly, you can cab or bike there much cheaper! It’s all close by. We spent almost $400 and it could have cost maybe $200 to do ourselves. We didn’t even meet the “guide” to go to the Golden Gate Bridge because we knew exactly where it was and knew to get there cheaper. Don’t book this tour, save your money and book the Alcatraz tour yourself and rent a bike to go see the bridge.

We say to ourselves....Why would a guest book a package if one can do it ala carte on on their own? It means the world to us you supported a business even tho you did no research in advance and then went ahead and bought our package only to criticize our package and then write a one star review on our excellent service. We love how you mention "save yourself money" when this is the lowest cost Alcatraz package on Viator. All of our 5 star guests love us as we cater to families on a budget! People know to come to us to get a fair price for two quality products and are happy to join us. Yes you can do this all on your own or with your own car; but what about the typical Wharf family who does not have a car? Our service combines Alcatraz with a narrated easy access excursion by van to the bridge; especially when it is sold out and you need access to the island. There are many families who do not have a car or want to spend 1 hour on the city bus to get to the bridge. This is ideal for those without a car or who do not want to deal with the hassle of parking, thefts, smash and grabs, or lack of directions. Your message is without merit. You start your day with Alcatraz and then meet us for the van portion. Guides are not allowed on the island for all companies. We gave you simple to read instructions of how to find us after your tour. You do not need us to guide you on Alcatraz as it is a self guided tour. Next time book ahead of schedule a few months and save our package for those who really find value in what we are doing. PS: We have the cheapest Alcatraz package on Viator so its sort of hard to complain about it!
