What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

Once you take the ferry over to Alcatraz Island and you are dropped off, you will make your way up to the main prison building, where you receive an audio headset, and the audio tour will guide you through the Alcatraz Prison. Once the audio tour is over, you can continue taking pictures and exploring the Island, or you can walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. The Alcatraz tour typically takes 2-3 hours to enjoy.

The man working at the pickup ticket place ( so sorry I didn't get his name--he had a Russian type accent) was so helpful in ensuring we got to the island. He went above and beyond helping us out by asking another customer to exchange times so we wouldn't be crunched for time because our flight was later in the evening. He was prompt with his responses when I emailed. We were so grateful for his help.

Fining the audio devices should be a little more clear. As simple as walk all the way in the building and go down throw the jail cell to the back of the building.
