You will explore INSIDE the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island with America’s most ruthless criminals, including Al Capone.

The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked. You have to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Walk, bike, take public transportation, or drive (as a last resort as it can be challenging to find parking), with easy access from anywhere around the Bay!

On the island follow the Cellhouse audio tour “Doing Time” 45 minutes available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

You will take a short ride on a ferry (15min) to Alcatraz Island from Pier 33. Enjoy a 45-minute immersive audio tour to listen to the incredible history of the infamous prison. After that, you have all the time you want to explore the rest of the island. Then you can take any ferry back to the Pier 33. The ferry usually runs every 30 minutes.

Very interesting. I’m glad I took the tour. Well organized.interesting to hear voices of criminals that were there in the past. Audio tour was very interesting. A very enjoyable tour.

We purchased our tickets a week before we arrived in San Francisco. We arrived at the dock 90 mins before departing We find out after checking in a QR code was available to gain more information inside the boarding area That information was telling us of an App that we could have used with our smart phones and wireless head phones instead of holding a old style tape recorder, then on the boat in the way to the island we were told of a 13 story walk up the hill with limited tram service We saw quite a few older people either not able to enjoy their time on the island because of the limited tram service and all the stairs I feel this should have been better shared before ticket purchase

I am glad you had a good time on your tour. All those infos are shared beside the Alcatraz app. It might bring more confusion and you find out when you are the Pier. There is the tram that bring you up if you have difficulties to walk every time a boat land on the island. Thank you

The description was not clear that this was two separate boat excursions. Luckily we were able to do both. But be warned.
