You will explore INSIDE the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island with America’s most ruthless criminals, including Al Capone.

The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked. You have to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Walk, bike, take public transportation, or drive (as a last resort as it can be challenging to find parking), with easy access from anywhere around the Bay!

On the island follow the Cellhouse audio tour “Doing Time” 45 minutes available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

You will take a short ride on a ferry (15min) to Alcatraz Island from Pier 33. Enjoy a 45-minute immersive audio tour to listen to the incredible history of the infamous prison. After that, you have all the time you want to explore the rest of the island. Then you can take any ferry back to the Pier 33. The ferry usually runs every 30 minutes.

This middleman “tour operator” marks up their nonrefundable, non-changeable tour tickets 75% over the face value and, as other reviewers have stated, communication and customer service are very poor. San Francisco Tours and Activities sent us vouchers for the wrong attraction. We had only one afternoon in San Francisco, and instead of going on the bay cruise we’d paid for, we spent 2 hours trying unsuccessfully to get the correct voucher. We called them twice and left messages, but nobody ever called back. You can save yourself a lot of money and frustration and have more departure time options if you book your ticket online directly with the companies operating the attractions: alcatrazcruises.com and blueandgoldfleet.com.
