You will explore INSIDE the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island with America’s most ruthless criminals, including Al Capone.

The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked. You have to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Walk, bike, take public transportation, or drive (as a last resort as it can be challenging to find parking), with easy access from anywhere around the Bay!

On the island follow the Cellhouse audio tour “Doing Time” 45 minutes available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Also included is an amazing 1 hour SF Bay Cruise. Sail past the famous PIER 39 sea lions and along San Francisco’s historic waterfront, revealing the city’s fascinating skyline.You have the flexibility to go on your cruise on any day at any available departure. You will receive the schedule.

What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

You will take a short ride on a ferry (15min) to Alcatraz Island from Pier 33. Enjoy a 45-minute immersive audio tour to listen to the incredible history of the infamous prison. After that, you have all the time you want to explore the rest of the island. Then you can take any ferry back to the Pier 33. The ferry usually runs every 30 minutes.

The Alcatraz part of our booking was perfect, though a bit hazy as to where to check in at the dock. The audio tour on the island was top notch and well worth the time. My 3 star rating is due to the utter confusion that ensued when we moved on to the Bay boat tour experience. Our email said to come any time, yet we arrived barely before the last tour of the day was leaving at 4:30 PM. It took us awhile to find the proper booth to check in, and the lady there kept asking for a code number that was not provided to me in my email. We had to make a call to get this code and we wound up as the last rushed boarders of the boat. Not fun.

Hello Susan Thank you for your review. We do our best to give the best experience to all our customers. We send the night before all tickets, voucher and info by email. It happened sometimes that customers can't find that email because it could go in the spam folders. You can go to any time available on the schedule we provide also the night before, but it needs time to checkin and board the boat right, so it is always good to arrive 15min before :) And when you can't find your voucher you have our phone and it take less than a minute to provide you your voucher. This was my birthday weekend trip gift to myself. Decided to have the wife tag along on the tour with me even though she wasn’t a fan initially. The ferry ride to Alcatraz was very nice and offered a great view of the city from the bay. It was a little cold and wet standing outside enjoying the view but that was to be expected. The tour itself was informative and interesting. I loved the personal speaker devices they give you on the tour so you can move at your own pace. The ferries back to pier leave every half hour so you can pretty much leave when you want. I guess my wife gained interest once we actually tour because she was telling facts about the island when we were leaving. ..lol…Smh. Overall it was a fun experience. The only issue I had was actually finding the email tickets in my mailbox because they weren’t labeled in a manner that was easy to find.

Both experiences were great. The ease to find the piers and checkin was great. Cruise was informative but bring a light jacket. Alcatraz was unique. Loved the audio portion so you could do it at your own pace.
