All Island Tour by Bus in Oak Bluffs

Overview
Our tours are one of a kind, I'm a 3rd generation islander with roots dating back to 1909.

We offer cold bottled water, lite snacks, ponchos for those spot showers, we pass around items to show how we began and continue to live here.

There's a screen at the front of the bus to show what certain sites looked like in the 1800s.

Devin was very informative, with an easy way about him, good sense of humor. He encouraged some interaction and my wife and I shared stories of the Methodist campground we know in NJ. He is a 4th generation islander and was so good at shedding light on the history of Marthaā€™s Vineyard.

Visiting the John Belushi gravesite was a surprising and great experience. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of all the areas we passed.

First of all I would like to say that the driver was a lovely young man. However I feel that the tour was rather misguided in several ways. The company is called homegrown tours. What we received was a lot of information about the young man who drove the bus and his personal experience growing up on the Vineyard. There was nothing about Chappaquiddick, there was nothing about Jackie Kennedy negotiating with the native American population to purchase land. There was no talking about the captains and the slave trade. I had taken another tour last year which was quite historic in content. I brought a friend over. that tour was booked so we booked the home grown tour. In addition to all of that, the bus that is used is old and loud and ill-equipped. Itā€™s bus itself sounds and looks like an old Jalopy I had to sit in the back. The bus was so loud, I had to concentrate to hear what the driver was saying. Also the microphone sound system is not good. He also drove quite fast and had an awful lot to say so that he was often pointing out sites that were no longer visible. Just as it historic point, I grew up in Newport Rhode Island and now I live on Cape Cod. So I know the history and I know New England. It was a disappointing tour which Iā€™m sure was no fault of the young man he was lovely. Homegrown is the folksy personal experience on the island. Basically what it is like growing up there. if thatā€™s what you want then itā€™s a perfect tour for you.
