Almost Famous on Broadway Ticket

Overview
"Almost Famous is destined to conquer Broadway," raves the Los Angeles Times. "It's an entrancing tapestry of sound — the chaotic, communal spirit of ’70s rock distilled in a musical.” Written by Academy Award winner Cameron Crowe based on his beloved film, and featuring music and lyrics by Tony(R) and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt, Almost Famous is a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of community, family, fandom and the power of music.

It's all happening... Almost Famous, the new musical written by Cameron Crowe and based on his beloved film, with music and lyrics by Tom Kitt, comes to Broadway this fall. The year is 1973 and it’s all happening. Led Zeppelin is king, Richard Nixon is President, and idealistic 15-year-old William Miller is an aspiring music journalist. When Rolling Stone magazine hires him to go on the road with an up-and-coming band, William is thrust into the rock-and-roll circus, where his love of music, his longing for friendship, and his integrity as a writer collide. Almost Famous is about a young man finding his place in the world and the indelible characters he meets along the way.

What a fun show. Laughed a lot, enjoyed the songs, and left feeling good. Casey Likes (William), and Chris Wood (Russell) are so incredibly talented and remember the name Solea Pfeiffer (Penny Lane) because she is going to be a star. She is so impressive in her Broadway debut. If you liked the movie, or if you are just a bit of a rocker, I definitely recommend the show. *We had no issues with the temperature in the building like a previous review experienced * Staff was incredibly nice and helpful.

We are a theater family- I’ve seen over 125 shows and my daughter is a Musical Theater major. I love seeing any new show and since my daughter is friends with the lead male from Arizona, she was so excited to see this last night. Unfortunately, Casey got the flu and texted my daughter he wouldn’t be there. We almost canceled but boy are we glad we didn’t! This show was a lot of fun, had really good music, and great references and jokes that you didn’t have to live through the 70s to understand. Solea Pfeiffer is just magical in this role- her voice is just beautiful. I was happy for the understudy making his debut- his enthusiasm at the end of the show was heartwarming. This show isn’t perfect- some tweaks would be great before the official open next month, but if you go to Broadway to be entertained and not be a critic, I can’t imagine how you wouldn’t enjoy this show. The last song at the end highlighted the ensemble- and there were some amazing voices. I would put this on your see list if you enjoy good music and a great story. I am not a paid critic- or an unpaid one. I go to be entertained and you either do it or you don’t. This hit the mark.
