We were looking for a family friendly hike for us and another family. The kids (aged between 3 and 7) love to be outdoors but we are not familiar enough with trails that would be do-able for those ages. We called Mad Desert Trekking and were happy to find out they knew a couple hikes that would be perfect for our family, and boy did they deliver! Matt was our guide and showed us one of the most beautiful hikes we have done so far, all within 30 minutes of our home. You can tell he is passionate about hiking and nature and is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He explained and highlighted details surrounding the geology, talked and described the beautiful hawks we saw along our trip and knew all the interesting facts about desert plants. His enthusiasm was great and kept even our youngest kid engaged. All in all we hiked for about 2 hours and not once did our kids complain about wanting to go home :)! In conclusion, we had an amazing morning hiking with Mad Desert Trekking and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to explore the amazing outdoors Arizona has to offer!

Exploring a cave on one of the rocky buttes was super interesting. It was fun to spot a black-tailed jackrabbit and a red-tailed hawk during the hike. Matt, my guide from Mad Desert Trekking lead a route that ascended to a great overlook with an exceptional view of the entire Valley of the Sun. What a great place to see the sunset. I'd advise anyone traveling to Phoenix or Scottsdale to take the time and go on a guided hike to learn more and experience the desert. An unforgettable adventure.
