The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. We enjoyed this family run outfitter. The paddling wasn’t difficult and we enjoyed being outdoors in perfect spring weather. Not much wildlife so maybe we prefer the Everglades trip we’ve done or the central Florida paddling we’ve done. So nice to get pix afterwards!
