Amelia Island Guided Kayak Tour of Lofton Creek

Overview
The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a guaranteed good time for everyone in your group!

We struggled this year to come up with a fun birthday party for our 10-year-old son that would be safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Catherine and her team helped develop a plan for a great day of kayaking for our son and his friends. The day started with an informative safety briefing for the children. They guides took the childrens’ safety very seriously. We had a fantastic two hour tour of Lofton Creek. The kids were delighted to enjoy an adventure together! The creek is perfect for beginner paddlers. The guides did a superb job of letting the kids be kids but also encouraged them and helped them when needed. The guides also took pictures throughout the paddle, so we didn’t have to worry about memorializing our son’s special day; we could just get out there and enjoy the paddle with him! The kids were able to see interesting wildlife native to the Fernandina Beach area. The highlight: paddling up to and under the train tracks as a locomotive rolled by. As a bonus, the engineer honked the train’s horn for the group. Our son kept repeating “best birthday ever!!!” What an endorsement! If you’re looking for a great birthday party, family event, or team building activity, this is an outstanding option. There is a nice picnic table and bathrooms at the launch to have lunch and cake afterwards. We had other family members meet us at the launch for the after-paddling festivities. Overall, it was an amazing day. We are so very thankful for Amelia Adventures!

First time kayaker, but definitely not the last. Did the Lofton Creek tour with Thomas, could not have asked for a better experience, able to move at my own pace, whether it was drifting to enjoy the scenery, or some extended paddling to get used to it. Thomas could not have been more helpful. Looking forward to doing their other tours such as Egan's Creek, Amelia River, and Cumberland Island.

Thank you Melissa! We are thrilled you had a great time with us. Let's go kayaking again. Maybe we try Egan's Creek, Amelia River or Cumberland Island kayak tour next time. Paddling on Lofton again will be great too! Whatever you choose, we will have fun:) -Catherine
