We visited the Natural History Museum on 28th December. This is a must-see museum in NYC, but does take all day. Allow for at least 3-4 hours to be able to see it all. There is something for everybody - our favourite exhibits were the dinosaurs and the gems. If there are ticket issues, they are easily solved too. We accidentally booked an extra ticket, and the staff were very accommodating with organising a refund. However, it is a 40 min walk from Midtown so bear that in mind. Will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in the area.

The whole system of ordering and paying for a ticket in advance, but still having to wait in line for over an hour to get admitted was ridiculous! Plus- Standing in a line with zero social distancing for that long was frustrating. Yes, we are all vaccinated and masked, but it was still uncomfortable during a pandemic. The whole museum was crowded and it was impossible to have any space. Otherwise, this is an amazing, iconic, educational museum. I just wish the admission system were more efficient and they were controlling the crowding better. I would not have gone here if I had known how crowded it was & with such a long wait to get in.

So disappointing. A giant, chaotic, outdated step backwards in time. Neither the printed map nor the organization of the museum or the exhibits made any sense. I came to see 2 sections only, and despite a map and asking 3 employees, it still took me 20 minutes to get to where I wanted. The early human exhibit feels 50 years old, with a few ā€œupdatedā€ walls thrown in about DNA. The one surprise was the gem and mineral section, which was stunning, and the only reason I didn’t rate the museum a one star. Please do some serious upgrades, stock and staff the gift shop better, and figure out a better way to guide/direct people around.
