The museum itself is brilliant and HUGE, loads to do. We did a free tour with Victoria Boyt, one of the volunteers, and would highly recommend. Over a two hour tour she showed us a range of exhibits from mammals to Native American culture to dinosaurs and more. One of the highlights of our trip to NYC.

Did not have a tour guide which was on my ticket with contact information! That was a no show! I should have just bought my tickets from the museum directly. The museum is fabulous but used your sight for the guide! 🥲

As with any great museum it can be hard to know what to see in the time you spend there, this one is so big that it's worth picking up a map and working out your priorities. My priority was seeing the Dino's which are on the 4th floor. They had some great models and skeletons on show, always fascinating to see the scale of these creatures in person. I also walked through some of the exhibits on the first floor, like the American forests and farmland as well as the underwater room with the massive whale. It feels like the sort of museum that goes into great detail into a lot of things and if you're learning about what they have on show or have a desire to learn more it is fantastic. There's also a nice round room with views of Central Park.
