I had such a great time on this tour. I was traveling alone, so it was nice to join a small group for this day trip. November was the perfect time to go, because there was almost no wait time to go into Antelope Canyon. I thought Horseshoe bend was busy, but apparently it was nowhere near as busy as it gets in the summer. The cool weather made it pleasant to be outside.
Our guide, Marcia, was amazing. She is like a human encyclopedia. The drive from Flagstaff is a couple hours but she made it pass quickly by providing information on just about everything you pass along the way, and there are actually a lot of interesting things that you pass that youād otherwise never know about. We stopped for bathroom breaks at regular intervals, and there was time to look at the Navajo crafts in the trading posts.
Horseshoe Bend was beautiful. Just be careful to watch the time, because itās about a 3/4 mile walk from the parking lot and over a hill, so if you want more time at the bend, walk faster. I thought there was plenty of time to see it though.
Antelope Canyon was indescribable. It is impossible to take a bad photo of the light shining through the canyon. During this segment of the tour, you are placed with a Navajo guide, because you couldnāt see the canyon otherwise. Donāt miss the dinosaur footprints at the end. Note that they donāt allow bags or backpacks in the canyon, so leave them in the van.
Something important to note is that this tour stops at the Glen Canyon Dam (for lunch), in addition to the Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. I didnāt know this when I signed up for the tour and was pleasantly surprised. Iām glad, because I would say that itās a must see if youāre driving to Page or Lake Powell.
