Antelope Canyon is on our wishlist to visit during our cross country road trip. The tickets were all sold out for entire August. We had to join a tour group from Sedona to see Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon.
The tour guide JR was incredibly knowledgeable about the geography, history and culture of the region, especially about the Navajo Tribes. He took a bag of books with him. Every time someone had a question, he could pick the book to pass around, it was magical. And we learned so much from this tour and it was beyond our expectations.
JR was also very considerate to prepare decent lunch box and plenty of ice water. He made enough pit stops so we could stretch and find the clean bathrooms.
You have to hike 0.75 miles in the heat to see the Horseshoe bend, but the reward was incredible.
Antelope Canyon is situated within Navajo Nation, so we all need to get into a converted pick-up truck and lead by Navajo guide to tour the Canyon. There were lots of groups of people, so you were ushered and kind of rushed to go through the Canyon. The pictures we took were incredible.
Overall this was a rewarding experience. Highly recommend the tour.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the day and Antelope Canyon was a marvel of nature. Our guide JR was a wealth of information and had the back materials for us to explore further. He is a walking movie expert and be sure to have him share his dinossaurs with you. Leonard was our Navaho guide and he was a joy - even took our pictures for us, as well as played a flute after walking through the canyon that little extra was special. Definitely worth the trip.
Prior to the trip we visited Horseshoe Bend...be prepared to walk if you want to see the river. Our box lunch was good and would have been nice outside if the weather had not been so hot. Would suggest a back-up spot to eat if weather is uncomfortable.
Overall a good day, but a long one.
