Arches National Park 4x4 Adventure from Moab

Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect
1
Arches National Park
Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the parkā€™s wildlife and history.
2
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.
3
Tower Arch
An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

Our guide was knowledgeable, skilled and entertaining. We saw beautiful sites we wouldnā€™t have seen on our own. After having our tour cancelled (didnā€™t meet minimum number of guests we were told) it was scheduled again with another couple. Thatā€™s fine, but they were apparently anti-maskers. In spite of being told before boarding that the group would mask by consensus, they did not mask after the first 15 minutes. Driver/guide remained masked while in the vehicle (thanks and enjoy your heathy tip) but it was four hours of awkwardness and a risk we wonā€™t take again. Otherwise weā€™d book everything available the next two days. Local headlines say Covid cases are rising here. This company and this trip is a ā€œdonā€™t missā€ but also our first experience in Moab in five days where people were allowed to ignore the mask order. Do this some other, non-pandemic time, maybe, if youā€™re hoping for good will, courtesy, good sense and adherence to the order. Am sure the guide doesnā€™t want to be the mask police. The waiver you sign holding the company blameless surely includes risk of Covid infection. We booked assuming everyone would follow local orders and be concerned for well-being of all. Received another assurance before entering the vehicle. Not so. What to do besides argue in the desert and demand to be returned to your hotel? Suggest you ask about refunds and what to do if this happens when you book. Proceed at your own risk.

Our tour guide, Blain, was excellent! We actually did a full day with him at Canyonlands Park as well. He was very knowledgeable about the history of both parks and the geology of what we were seeing. We highly recommend this tour and Blain!
