Arches National Park 4x4 Adventure from Moab

Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect
1
Arches National Park
Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the parkā€™s wildlife and history.
2
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.
3
Tower Arch
An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

Our guide, David G., was an excellent guide for our family! He geared our trip to make it interesting and accessible to our teenagers and elementary school aged children. Our nine year old said, ā€œIā€™ve learned more on this tour than I have in my science class for the whole year!ā€ In fact, we all learned a tremendous amount about the entire region. We were able to see some of the most beautiful parts of Arches that we might not have seen if it wasnā€™t for David. He was flexible and able to accommodate many different interests and physical abilities. I highly recommend Navtec and David as a guide!

We had a great day of exploring Arches and Canyonlands with Josh B. Not only was Josh a super guide, he was funny, engaging, and interested in us as adventure seekers, not just customers. While at a "special site" and with a bit of climbing, he was able to capture some great travel photos for us that we weren't able to do for ourselves. For first-time visitors, our adventure was a spectacular introduction to the beauty of the area.

Mike gave us a wonderful tour of Arches. He tailored the tour to what we wanted to see, adding some quick stops at the "front of Park" sights, as my partner and I wouldn't have had a chance to see them otherwise (we were only in Moab for this tour only). The tour normally focuses on "back of Park" sights that you can only access via 4x4, places that the vast majority of visitors never see. The 4x4 drive was the most extreme one I've ever been on. VERY bumpy. Anyone with back problems should probably steer clear of this tour (or tell Navtec ahead of time so they can come up with a custom tour for you). For us, we had a great time and it was really fun! We got some amazing photos and felt like we saw the best of Arches in our short time there. We took some great pictures and had a great time! Would definitely recommend.
