Arches National Park 4x4 Adventure from Moab

Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the parkā€™s wildlife and history.
2
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.
3
Tower Arch
An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

My wife and I were on a road trip to visit many national parks. While in Moab Utah, we took the Arches 4x4 tour with Navteq expeditions. What a great way to see Arches. Our driver, Mike, took us to see the main arches that everyone sees. But he also took us off road to see many arches that 90% of the park's visitors never see. He also took us to see dinosaur footprints. On top of all of this, it was just plain fun. Driving in a Toyota Land Cruiser, we went places even many 4x4's would get stuck. It was bumpy, rough, bone rattling fun. I would have enjoyed it without seeing any arches, but we saw more than 10. I highly recommend this tour, and Mike our tour leader. He was great.

The Arches 4 hour tour began with our 4x4 entering the park by a dirt road. We spent a lot of time in the back country before emerging onto the main paved road to hit a few of the usual park highlights. Then it was back on the roads that only a 4x4 can handle. It was great for the technical driving, the back country sites, and the knowledgeable guide (Buzz) who kept us entertained with tales of natural and local history. We would've taken other tours with them if we had the time.
